Mentorship and Youth Support

Compassionate mentoring and practical support for adolescents aged 11–17 in the Sunshine Coast, Queensland

A trusted guide for young people in transition or in need of additional support

Adolescence is a time of rapid change — physical, emotional and social. It’s also a time when many parents find themselves at a loss.

Whether your family is navigating a difficult transition (like separation, relocation, or school changes), or your child is showing signs of emotional distress, social withdrawal, or behavioural challenges — you don’t have to face it alone.

Azia Ligthart offers one-on-one mentorship and youth support for young people aged 11–17, working with them in ways that are grounded, nurturing, flexible and practical.

With Azia Ligthart

Steiner School graduate K-12 (2017)

Azia's mission:

"To protect and nurture the essence of adolescence — helping young people develop confidence, emotional regulation, and resilience as they form their identity and begin to step into independence."

CONNECT WITH ME

Azia meets young people where they’re at — emotionally, developmentally, and physically. Her sessions might involve bushwalking, surfing, cooking, crafting, handing out job resumes, or simply having honest conversations in a park or quiet space. The intention is always the same: to build trust, create safety, and offer consistent, grounded support.

Is your child struggling with:

Self confidence, peer pressure, emotional outbursts, or school refusal?

Adjusting to family changes (such as separation, moving, or boarding school)?

Dealing with bullying, risky behaviour, or social disconnection?

In need of a confidante — someone closer to their own age who they can open up to safely?

Azia can offer the steady, intelligent and caring presence that so many young people are missing.

"From the outset we must make our guidance a thing of enjoyment for the children — not animal enjoyment, but enjoyment of a higher, human kind — not something that calls forth in them antipathy and repulsion."

Rudolf Steiner – GA 293 – The Study of Man: Lecture IX – Stuttgart, 30 August 1919

Why parents trust Azia

"Azia's respectful and loving approach was like more than a coach, helping my son navigate his emotions and allowing him to express himself freely, without fear of punishment or judgment.

She created a safe space and environment for us, making us feel at home in Australia, even though we come from another country.

She was there to help us facing difficult moments with her kindness, compassion, love and support.

She cheered for my son on stage, during his play, his soccer games, and showed interest in our Brazilian identity. Her support meant respect for our dignity and integrity with her love authority!"

- Larissa, mum of 12-year old boy

Hi, I'm Azia

At the heart of my work is relationship and rapport. I take the time to truly get to know each young person I support — their interests, their struggles, and what makes them feel safe.

I take a thoughtful and individualised approach to each young person, taking the time to understand their unique personalities, interests and challenges. I create a balanced, safe and supportive environment that encourages open expression without fear or shame, while maintaining clear and respectful communication with parents or primary carers throughout the process.

My goal is always to create a space where they feel seen, respected, and free to be themselves. From there, trust naturally begins to build — and real growth can happen.

Note on Confidentiality and contracting

I uphold a strict code of conduct and ethical standards. While your child's privacy is respected, I will always notify parents or relevant authorities if there is ever a risk of harm - to the child or others.

Essential provisions include - blue card, first aid and CPR, police check, full drivers license, professional indemnity insurance, NDIS screening

And here's a bit about how I work.

Born in Brisbane, I graduated Year 12 from Little Yarra Steiner School in Victoria before setting off on three years of solo travel around the world.

At 17, I restored and converted my own van — the first step in a journey that taught me resilience, independence, and the joy of working closely with families. Along the way, I discovered that supporting the growth and well-being of children is the most meaningful way I can give back.

Now based on the Sunshine Coast, I’m dedicated to offering grounded, compassionate support to young people and their families.
